I specialize in creating one of kind, anatomically correct wildlife sculptures from wood.
My strengths include fish, birds, turtles, and recently penguins!
Using wood as a medium allows me to take control over the piece. I can carve a ripple in a fishes fin or an open beak on a baby bird. Every fish scale and every feather is burned into the piece using a wood burning tool.
The final stage of the process is the painting the piece, which brings it to life. Each color is precisely mixed by hand to get the exact hue needed, then applied by both airbrush and hand tipping methods to give it a world class finish.
Attention to details is key!
I began my career as a Taxidermist in 1980 and in 1999 I carved my first fish reproduction and was immediately recognized by my peers as having a gift. I entered that fish in a National Taxidermy Competition and won "Judges Best of Show" and the rest as they say is history.
Since that time I have gone on to place 3rd in the World Fish Carving Competitions and I have won numerous awards at many art shows. I am an expert in my field and I can create any masterpiece that you have in mind.
Call me to discuss your dream piece.
A portion of my business is creating reproductions for catch and release anglers. This can be accomplished in wood or by taxidermy using a photo and or measurements.
I can recreate your special catch right down to the fly you used.
